Craig Barbieri Roundtable Spotlight

In this AEC Best Practice Roundtables Spotlight, Craig Barbieri, Director of Digital Technology at EwingCole discusses his roundtable discussion, "AI for Visual Design Iteration and Beyond". Yes, there's considerable industry angst over AI due to perceived ease of creativity, and lost work due to automation. However, Barbieri dismisses these concerns. In his experience, AI generates emotionally compelling images quickly, yet lacks the ability to refine the design of buildings or spaces, which is the human component. In his experience, the use of AI allows for deeper exploration, creativity and opportunity for new work. What's the differentiator for the best and highest use of AI? According to Craig, the successful use of AI (as with any tool) requires discipline and rigor. Designers should view AI as a useful tool for ideation, collaboration, and iteration.
