Update on Fall AEC Leadership Retreat
Here's another update on the previously referenced AEC Leadership Retreat. As I'm mostly unplugged on the coast of North Carolina this week (see above), it seemed even more appropriate to sit down for an thoughtful QnA with facilitator and leadership coach Randy Benn. Randy is a lawyer in Washington DC with degrees in Political Science, Psychology and Juris Doctor (Duke University) as well as an Executive and Leadership Coach (Georgetown).
Randy is the brother of Wesley Benn, Executive Chairman at Digital Built Environment Institute. You’ll have probably met Randy at one of the many BILT conferences. Randy has enthusisastically agreed to be the facilitator for the (hopeful) fall retreat-style event.
During our discussion Randy describes some of the challenges that exceptionally smart people face transitioning from technical leadership to team leadership. He'll also discuss the importance of having an "unconference": no Powerpoint, 5-star hotel and other distractions. This is a back to basics, camp and retreat environment. We're about nurture, nature and self-discovery while going off the beaten path. Bring your cell phone - but try not to touch it! :)
Read this far? Thank You! :) If what Randy and I have discussed sounds interesting please let me know if you’d like to attend via email (along with a brief why). This will let Randy and I can get a better sense of how we might proceed.
Kind regards -
